How much????

 Recently there was a text in the family WhatsApp group.

“Does anyone know someone who could make these?”

My grandnephew Luca loves Gecko Garage (!) and these were the main characters from it. But I did a double, neigh triple take when I saw the price they were asking fir the crocheted figures

€300! Are they having a laugh!!!

Well my crochet expertise is mainly Lil Covid, who I managed to make during Lockdown, thanks to the middle aisle in Aldi. 

But it was worth a try.

I searched online for a pattern but all I could get was one for the Teletubbies. Close enough.

After a few mishaps I finished them today. And they’re not bad, even if I do say so myself.

And the best news is…… I only charged €275!

Border Control

 

Last weekend I went to Berlin. As it was just for a few days I just had hand-luggage. Of course out of the three of us travelling together, it had to be my case that was singled out for inspection.

I watched the officer sweep over it with some device, open it up to sweep around the inside of it and then place the device into a nearby machine. Now I'e seen enough Border Control programmes to know that they were looking for any traces of drugs. I always think that  I'm going to found guilty even when I know that I've done absolutely nothing wrong.

Suddenly I had a moment of sheer panic.

"What if my HRT patches set off the alarm bells on that machine?"

A wave of panic swept over me, not very different to a hot flush that the patches are meant to control.

My case was closed up and I was sent on my merry little way. Phew!

#1 thing I do NOT miss about being a teacher...

 Every December 1st I start off, all full of enthusiasm and wacky ideas for Elfie.

But a week or so in, I'd find myself speeding to school, because I hadnt moved the little fecker the afternoon before.

He gave me PTSD.
