My Messenger pinged with the words: “Congratulations Noeleen, you have won…”
I sighed inwardly. Not another scam, I thought. But then I noticed it was from Esker Arts Centre, and a vague memory surfaced — hadn’t I entered some sort of competition a while back?
Tentatively, I opened the message and, to my delight, discovered that I had actually won two tickets to see the play The 3 Hail Marys. My sister had been before and said it was hilarious, so I was planning to go anyway. Even better, I had to physically collect the tickets from the box office — no requests for my credit card details, blood type, or every password I’ve ever created. That alone reassured me it was the real deal.
It’s always great to get something for nothing, isn’t it? And since my luck seems to be in, I’m off to buy a Lotto ticket. If I win that, I’m jetting off to sunnier climes… and there’ll be two spare tickets for The 3 Hail Marys going free if anyone wants them!
